The CCHS Fine & Performing Arts Program provides Learners with the opportunity to participate in a main stage production twice a year. Our Block 4 is dedicated to the arts in the way of performance, visual, and instrumental in preparing for the presentation of our “product” as the production itself. There are 4 different course opportunities available in Fine Arts that learners will receive credit for as they progress throughout their 4 years at CCHS. These courses include Fine Arts 1, Fine Arts 2, Advanced Fine Arts, and Play Production.
The mission behind the CCHS Fine Arts program is to engage each and every high school learner in the life experience of corporation, creativity, and confidence. In an effort to provide this life experience in preparation for college and career, learners are challenged with the task of creating a resume and interviewing for a production team. Through this year-long team experience, learners receive hands on experience in time management, creativity, and the importance of each individual working towards one vision. The end result is remarkable because learners have become so prepared in their roles and responsibilities that they are now completely running the show. Learners discover creativity and confidence in seeing a challenge through to the end.
Last year, CCHS successfully produced Little Women the Musical and the classic Meredith Willson musical, The Music Man. In addition, CCHS Fine Arts also produced a Christmas Show Choir Concert and the second annual Night of Entertainment. This year CCHS Fine Arts is proud to present the hilariously, heartwarming production of Peter and the Starcatcher, a prequel story to Peter Pan that takes the audiences imagination on a non-stop adventure in discovery of Neverland! In the spring, CCHS will take on the classic Charles Dickens’ story, Oliver. A heroic tale of an orphan boy on his quest for home and the adventure along the way as he meets a slew of characters. Along with our two main-stage productions we will also be producing our 3rd annual Showchoir Christmas Concert and our 3rd annual Night of Entertainment with performances and master-class teaching from Broadway star Ivan Rutherford.
Here at CCHS we aim for a high standard of professionalism through active engagement in all areas of the arts, allowing learners to grow uniquely in their own specific area of passion and purpose! We hope that you join us on the journey this season at CCHS!
