Day 5

Reagan Rodriguez

Today, we completed the house build, marking the end of an incredible journey with this wonderful family. Reflecting on the first day, when we met them and prayed together for their new home, it’s amazing to see how much we’ve connected in such a short time. Throughout the build, we formed meaningful relationships through sharing stories and laughter. One of the most memorable moments for me was getting to play with some of the children, it was a reminder of why we were there. The family’s kindness and warmth made us feel truly welcome, and it was an honor to be part of something so impactful.

Day 4

Josiah Llamas

Today in Mexico, we continued working on the house and spent time being efficient, while also taking some time to relax and have a lot of fun later in the day. We began by eating French toast, eggs, and bacon for breakfast, and had morning session afterwards. In the session, we played a pirate version of Simon Says as a morning game and we got second place. After a morning devotion and worship session, we all got on the bus and headed back to the house to continue building. Half of the people worked on building and construction while the other half worked on painting and designing. As a painter, I gained a sense of relaxation as each wall was painted one at a time, bringing forth a rhythm to it all. While we were painting, we were able to bond and communicate with the family and neighbors in the area we were working in, and seeing how we were able to work together and have fun even though speaking two different languages. Afterwards, we went back to the campus with an announcement that we were going on an outside trip. We began the trip with a trip to a taco restaurant and all got really good tacos. Afterwards, we went to the Oxxo store and got some snacks. And we ended the trip with time on the beach, allowing us to rest and take in the beautiful scenery in the process. It was such a fun evening trip, and afterwards we all spent time playing card games and having a lot of fun. Overall, this day was really fun and showcased the unity that we have as a missions group with both the community and each other.

Day 3

Today was day 1 of the house build. Before we started, we got to meet the family and prayed for them. As we were building the house we got to know them more throughout the day. I enjoyed the few interactions I had with the family, and I even got to have a heartwarming conversation with the son. They made us feel welcome coming into this new environment. We are all very excited to continue to work with them over the next 2 days as we finish building their new home.

Day 2

Hayden Solarte

Today, we attended a Spanish church. While we were there, we spent our time creating arts and crafts with the kids that attended the church. We colored coloring pages, we made balloon animals, and bracelets. The kids also encouraged us to play soccer with them, which was quite fun. They were so little and energetic which made our time there even more entertaining and enjoyable. We were as equally as hyper with them so we just had the best time.

Keira Gove

Today I shared my testimony with the church we went to. At first I didn’t really want to, but I was willing to get it done. Once I got up to talk the realization of what I was doing hit me, and I was freaking out a little bit. I started talking and started to feel God speaking through me. I began to feel how I can impact the people here and what God has called me to do in Mexico.

Day 1

Isabel Valdes

Today was a great first day! First, we ate Chick Fil A before we crossed the border. Then once we got to the compound the people here at YWAM helped us with our luggage and showed us to our rooms. They gave us a quick tour around the compound and gave us free time to settle until dinner. During our free time we got to hang out with our roommates and leaders on this trip. For dinner, we ate al pastor tacos (pork tacos) with calabacitas (grilled zucchini). They also gave us the choice of horchata or agua de jamaica to drink with it. After dinner we had a worship session and a quick sermon. To end off our night, they introduced us to our YWAM team leaders for the house build and explained what we will be doing to serve this week. So far it’s been a great trip to connect with new people!
