At CCHS, our College-Career class taken each year is geared to prepare learners for the next stage of their life whether it be college or career. Below are the outcomes and standards that we partner with families to achieve to equip learners with the knowledge, understanding, and guidance necessary to make the best possible choice for their future.

College Checklist

Freshmen/Sophomore Year

  • Figure out general interest/passion
  • Understanding the difference between universities, colleges, junior/community colleges, & trade schools
  • Identifying strengths and interests in careers
  • Understanding and completing the CCHS 4 year Plan & Learner Portfolio
  • General knowledge of College acceptance tests
  • General understanding of all degree levels in college
  • Understanding of honors/concurrent courses and GPA

Junior Year

  • Visit college/university campuses
  • Research Scholarships
  • Become familiar with majors
  • Commit to a major
  • Understanding of FAFSA opportunities, deadlines, and purpose
  • Research more universities graduation rates, location, costs, and offered programs

Senior Year

  • Summer prior to senior year beginning
    • Visit college campuses
    • Begin college applications
    • Continue Researching and now submitting Scholarships
      • Fastweb.com (scholarship tool)
  • Research & Attend college preview events
  • Finish and submit college applications by the application deadline of selected colleges
  • Complete FAFSA
  • Commit to your University
  • After graduation request final official transcripts to be sent to committed college/university
