Spanish 1

This course is designed to provide learners the opportunity to learn a second language.  Learners will build basic Spanish skills that will help them to understand basic signs, words and phrases. The growth of these abilities will encourage the learners to communicate about topics such as family, friends, foods, traveling, sports, and shopping. With the introduction of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, learners will be able to have a basic knowledge base that will enable them to conduct brief conversations in a foreign language.  Learners will also study culture in Spanish-speaking countries. This will help the learner to relate to the culture, make cross-cultural connections and have a better understanding of the language.

Spanish 2

This course is designed to introduce learners to a greater variety of vocabulary and concepts. Learners will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge regarding how to communicate in a second language. Learners will build their Spanish skills in the areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing, which will aid in their ability to continue learning the language at a deeper level. The growth of these abilities will encourage the learners to continue developing their ability to communicate about topics such as family, friends, foods, traveling, sports, and shopping. Learners will also study the culture in Spanish-speaking countries. This will help the learner to relate to the culture, make cross-cultural connections and have a better understanding of the language.

Spanish 3

This is an upper level course designed to greatly expand vocabulary and concepts essential to an in-depth understanding of the Spanish language. Learners will have the opportunity to refine their communication skills in a second language. Learners will begin to master their Spanish skills in the areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing, which will continue to aid in the learners’ ability to acquire a deeper understanding of the language. The growth of these abilities will encourage the learners to continue the development in communication about topics such as family, friends, foods, traveling, sports, and shopping. Learners will also conduct in-depth studies of various cultural norms in Spanish-speaking countries. This will help the learner to relate to the culture, make cross-cultural connections and have a better understanding of the language.

Spanish 4

This Spanish 4 course is designed to introduce learners to a bigger variety of vocabulary and concepts. Learners will have the opportunity to learn how to communicate in a second language. Learners will build their Spanish skills with speaking, listening, reading, and writing; that would help them to have a deeper understanding of the language. The growth of these abilities will encourage the learners to continue the development to communicate about topics such as family, friends, foods, traveling, sports, and shopping. Learners will also study the culture in Spanish-speaking countries. This will help the learner to relate to the culture and have a better understanding of the language. They will be able to compare and connect between the differences of the languages and cultures. During this year, learners will be preparing to take their college Spanish placement test.
