Chris Scott (aka Coach Scott) is the K-8 Athletic Director, Elementary PE Facilitator, and an ordained CCS Staff pastor. He’s starting his 14th year teaching, his 12th year here at Crossroads and his 8th year in his current role as AD and PE facilitator. He grew up in Anaheim where he participated in Pop Warner Youth Football, Little League Baseball, and played basketball competitively from 6th grade through high school. He graduated from Cal State University Long Beach in 1993 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education-Athletic Training emphasis. He was also a member of the CSULB Rowing Team for two years. Professionally, he worked in various sales-related businesses for 10 years after college before electing to return to school to get his teaching credential and eventually, his Master’s Degree, which he completed in 2014. He has been married to his amazing wife Claire for 23 years. They have two wonderful kids- Caitlyn, who graduated from CCHS in 2018 and was valedictorian of her class (and is currently studying animation at Azusa Pacific University), and Christopher, who attends CCMS and is entering 7th grade. They also have two dogs, Chelsea and Chappie. He loves Jesus, the Bible, speaking at chapel, the outdoors, including the beach and mountains, traveling, hiking, kayaking, swimming, and being used by God to have a positive impact on the lives of those around him!

He is passionate for education! His favorite moment as an educator are those “a-ha!” moments where a learner comes to an understanding of a concept that they are being taught or possibly struggling to understand. As a PE facilitator, he is motivated to share with his learners how God desires each of us to live a healthy lifestyle and take care of ourselves. He also loves how sports can be utilized to develop and grow Godly character, due to teamwork, collaboration, sportsmanship, success, and yes, even failure!

What does a God-first School mean to him? To him, a God-first school means a place where the Lord is honored in and through, everything we do. Whether it’s academics, art, music, sports, playing on the playground, or even eating lunch, we put God and Godly purposes at the center of our focus. We honor Him not just in thoughts, but in our words and actions. A God-first school glorifies God in both moments of triumph and moments of failure.
